American burying beetle surveys

American burying beetles (ABBs) are our specialty.  Dr. Amy Smith wrote the book (well, really the management plan) on them!  We can help you with ABB presence/absence surveys and project siting.  We also provide desktop modeling services, habitat suitability surveys, and advice.  We can also educate construction teams about ABBs, but not after meals.  It's too disgusting.

WE ARE SUPER EXCITED THAT Dr. Amy Smith was interviewed in Scientific American!  Here is the citation in case you want to read more.

small mammal surveys

S.E.A.R.C.H. can assist you with small mammal surveys.  We use live-trapping methods and can help you with project design.  Yes, we do wear fabulous purple leather gloves while handling small mammals.  Why not?

native plant surveys

S.E.A.R.C.H. can assist you with native and invasive plant surveys.  Our plant biologist can also advise you on what plant to put on that nasty poison ivy rash.

aquatic surveys

S.E.A.R.C.H. can assist you with aquatic surveys from the top down (that was an ecology joke).  We complete surveys for fish, amphibians, turtles, crayfish, aquatic insects (macroinvertebrates), and zooplankton (meiofauna).  We are permitted to use electroshocking methods for fisheries studies.  We have waders for that.
